Cool chillies and a new direction.....

Spring has definitely sprung into action around the garden the past week with flowers and fruit everywhere. The mystery chilli seeds Jessy brought home from his mexican day have started sprouting, the first of the Jalepeno seeds I planted have also started to sprout, and most exciting of all I have had 2 of the 4 Ultra White Bhut Jolokia seed come up as well. Earlier this week I managed to get some soil to transplant the Bishop Crown and Razzamatazz seedlings, and are all showing signs of new growth.

I also recieved my first batch of seeds from Neil and Charlotte at The Hippy Seed Company in the mail today and I already have Jiffy pots soaking while I write this. This delivery has some great seeds and arrived well packed, and they even sent me a code for 10% off my next order! Super stoked so thank you so much guys. The seeds I ordered this time are -

  • Aji Pineapple - A sweet mild chilli with the flavour of a pineapple.
  • Sugar Rush Peach - Another mild sweet chilli with a nice peach colour when ripe.
  • Purple Thai - A pretty little ornamental chilli that produces purple flowers, as well as purple pods that turn red when ripe.
  • Explosive Ember - Another ornamental that produces purple pods that turn red when ripe and slightly hotter than Purple Thai.
  • Peter Penis Pepper - This one I got just because the pods look like little red penises, medium heat so great for cooking too.

Already have a list for my next order which leads me to my next point.....

After struggling to try and get my Aquaponics system started (mainly due to not having any money and no donations yet) I am putting it on the back burner. Yes I still want to do aquaponics but I just cannot afford to do it yet, so I have decided I am going to try and raise funds by selling plants that I propagate and grow. By doing this I hope that eventualy I will be able to generate enough savings to buy the rest of the equipment and supplies I need and one day be fully operational. Until that happens I will be focussing mainly on chillies and herbs, as these are something I know I can use, as well as these types of plants seem to be my niche when it comes to growing.

So even though I am not going to be getting into aquaponics as soon as I would like, I do plan on continuing to strive for my goal and have fun growing some great rare chillies and some awesome fresh organic herbs that I will be able to sell and make some money to buy my dream.

That's about it for now......

Have an awesome day and remember,

Thanks again to Neil and Charlotte from The Hippy Seed Company

G'day everyone!

Been playing in the dirt most of today and as always hoping my efforts are fruitful (LOLz!). So what did I accomplish......

Well I sarted by potting some newly rooted cuttings of Lemon Balm and Apple Mint. Sown seeds of an as yet unclassified chilli (My son brought me some seeds from chillies used in cooking for his mexican day), some Cherry Belle Radish, a few more marigolds and a Pumpkin seed I have had sitting on the fridge for a few weeks. Also sorted the chilli seeds from the Jalapeno and Firecracker that I used in dinner Friday night.

On top of that water changes got done on all my guppy tanks as well as the goldfish tub, had a visit from the kids who kept the place lively and noisy for a few hours, and managed to get some other bits done around the place.

Over the next few days I should be getting my White Ghost Chilli seeds so the excitement is building for another variety to add to my collection, as well as strating the plan for my start up system. Have the pump and a tub sorted, but hoping I will be able to get the money for some irrigation hose and a few tubs to start off the initial build. If anyone can help with a few dollars, please donate using the paypal donation button.

I think that is about it for today, but will make sure I get in an update again in a few days.

Thanks everyone for your interest and support, have an awesome day and Share Your Knowledge!
